Wednesday night saw Mike Mataragas make his debut with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals at La Salle Speedway (LaSalle, Ill.) for the 13th round of the Hell Tour. Drawing 32 cars, Mike came one spot short of a transfer position in his heat with a fifth place finish. Scoring a runner-up spot behind Bob Gardner in his B-Main, Mataragas locked into the 18th-starting position for the main event. With $5,000 on the line, Mike pulled off early from the 50-lapper on lap 24.
Returning to action on Friday afternoon, Mataragas headed to Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) powering his Mike Mataragas Enterprises (MME) No. 1M Late Model. Following the third fastest lap overall in a field of 18 cars, Mataragas jumped up one spot in his heat to pick up the win. Slated to start on the pole for the A-Main, persistent rain rolled in and wiped out the 20-lapper.
